In Canada, every employee is guaranteed a minimum of two weeks of paid vacation annually, protected by provincial and territorial labor laws. While this two-week standard is mandatory, employers have the option to offer more.

This overview highlights the basic vacation entitlements across all provinces:

Province

Vacation Entitlement

Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario

- After one year of service: 2 weeks
- After five years of service: 3 weeks

New Brunswick

- Less than eight years of service: 2 weeks
- Eight years of service or more: 3 weeks

Newfoundland and Labrador

- Less than 15 years of service: 2 weeks
- 15 years or more of service: 3 weeks

Nova Scotia

- After 12 months of service: 2 weeks
- After eight years of service: 3 weeks

Prince Edward Island

- Less than eight years of service: 2 weeks
- Eight years or more of service: 3 weeks

Quebec

- Less than one year of service: 1 day per month and not exceeding 2 weeks
- Between one year and three years of service: 2 weeks
- Three years of service and over: 3 weeks

Saskatchewan

- After one year of service: 3 weeks
- After ten years of service: 4 weeks
