What's the difference between an OPEN and CLOSED Work Visa in Canada?
What's the difference between an OPEN and CLOSED Work Visa in Canada?
In Canada, the distinction between an OPEN work visa and a CLOSED work visa relates to the flexibility and specificity of employment.
OPEN Work Visa: Allows the holder to work for any employer in Canada, without being restricted to a specific job or location. Common examples include the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) or the Working Holiday Visa under the International Experience Canada (IEC) program.
CLOSED Work Visa: Tied to a specific employer, position, and location. Before applying, the applicant typically requires a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or an LMIA-exempt job offer. The worker must remain with the employer specified in the visa and cannot freely change jobs without obtaining a new visa or appropriate permissions.
Currently Omnipresent can only hire employees with OPEN Work Visas. If your visa is tied to your previous employment, reach out to us right away.
